Derek graduated from the University of Florida in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During his time on campus he was heavily involved in his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, where he held roles of Social Chair, Intramural Chair and Assistant Recruitment chair.
